The D-ring is made of solid brass wood, for attaching the shoulder strap on the back of the main body. Since it is cast using old fashioned methods that use wet sand and pour the metal melted into the mould, it faithfully reproduces the delicate lines of the original shape that was made by hand instead of the uniform curvature that is made by bending wire.
